The last village before reaching the Larkya La pass is Samdo. Today, according to your Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek Itinerary, you'll have a day to acclimatize here. Samdo is linked to Tibet by trails, and during the summer months, there's a big commercial fair about a kilometer further up. Many Tibetan traders come here to buy and sell goods, which is why quite a few Tibetan refugees have settled in this area. From Samdo, trekkers can enjoy amazing views of the Budhi Gandaki River, as well as impressive mani cliffs and glaciers.

On this rest day, hikers have the option to visit Pana Danda or cross the Lajyung Pass, which leads to the China border. From Pana Danda, you can see peaks like Tasa (5543m) and Chhaamjo (5382m).

The Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek continues with more hills and wooden bridges over the Budi Gandaki River. You'll cross two streams and then come to the stunning Larkya glacier and valley. After that, you'll go through the Salka Khola Valley, climb back up, and finally arrive at Dharmasala, also known as Larkya La Phedi. It's a stone guest house where you can rest. It's not exactly a lodge, more like a place to take a break. The hike for the day is short, so you'll have plenty of time to adjust to the altitude.

To start the trek over the longest and toughest part, you need to leave Dharmasala very early in the morning. The Manaslu Tsum Trek begins with a gradual climb across the rocky debris left by glaciers. It then goes downhill to a lake and becomes rough and hard to see as it crosses steep grassy hills. After reaching four frozen lakes, you'll face the final challenging climb to the pass.

From the pass, you can see Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kanguru, Minjung, and the massive Annapurna II mountains. The trail continues along the top of the rocky debris to the west, with steep, zigzagging sections, before gradually descending on loose gravel to another grassy area. Then, the path becomes easier and leads to a small meadow. As you descend further, passing by a prayer wall and a small rest shelter, you'll reach Bhimtang, a wide valley with a big meadow.

Everything was perfectly arranged, from the pickup at KTM airport, the stay in Kathmandu

Great experience. This was the second trekking I did with Himalayan Dreamteam. Everything was perfectly arranged, from the pickup at KTM airport, the stay in Kathmandu and off course the trekking itself. Indira and Sameer did everything to get the most out of our trip. The guide we had was very experienced and found the nicest tea houses for overnight stay during the trek. Manaslu Circuit is getting more and more trekkers each year, but still it's very authentic and I think this will stay like this at least the next 5 years. I will definitely come back to Nepal and book with them again.

We had a great time during our trip around Manaslu in November 2017. Well organized by Rik van Belle in Belgium (MyHimalaya) and followed-up bij Indira and her team in Kathmandu. We enjoyed our friendly and experienced guide Jangbu and porter Kipa a lot. They made our journey an unforgettable experience.
Thanks to all and don't hesitate to book with Rik and Indira!
